Willson Contreras hit a home run over the left-field wall at Fenway Park during Friday night's 6-4 win over the Giants. Statcast measured the drive at 116 mph with a 30-degree launch angle and a projected distance of 452 feet.
That was a crazy homer
The 116 mph exit velocity matched Contreras' previous career high, set May 31, 2022, against the Brewers at Wrigley Field. That ball traveled 378 feet with an 18-degree launch angle. The Fenway drive was behind Pittsburgh's O'Neil Cruz, whose 116.9 mph homer leads MLB this season.
Contreras said the swing was among the best of his career and learned the full measurements after reaching the dugout. The Green Monster is 310 feet from home plate. The ball's landing point was unrecorded.
