Tristan Peters hit a one-out home run to center off Kodai Senga in the ninth inning Sunday, giving the White Sox a 2-1 victory over the Mets at Rate Field. Chicago moved to 68-62 as the American League Central leader.
It got in a little on me, and I know to center it's been tough in this ballpark,
The homer was Chicago's 11th walk-off win of the season, with Peters responsible for three of those wins. The White Sox had taken a 1-0 lead in the eighth inning when Andrew Benintendi doubled home Miguel Vargas, but the Mets tied the game in the ninth.
Rookie reliever Hagen Smith protected a scoreless game in the seventh after entering with runners on first and second and nobody out. He struck out Jared Young, Francisco Alvarez and Marcus Semien in the inning. Across six major league games, opposing hitters are 1-for-25 against the rookie left-hander.
Sam Antonacci also set a single-season White Sox record after being hit by a pitch for the 24th time in 2026. Peters said, “It's just such an impressive young team. I think no doubt we can be in the playoffs.”
