Logan O'Hoppe joined the Rangers on Sunday after an 18-game stint at Triple-A Round Rock. Texas acquired O'Hoppe and reliever Chase Silseth on July 29, then optioned the catcher immediately.

O'Hoppe entered the assignment after batting .209/.271/.295 with four home runs in 75 games. Defensively, he ranked last among catchers with −11 catcher framing runs, second-worst with −10 framing runs, and sat in the 25th percentile with a 1.97-second pop time.

Manager Skip Schumaker said O'Hoppe used the assignment for a physical and mental reset. The catcher returns as the Rangers look for a right-handed bat in the lineup.
