Williams is returning to the U.S. Open for the first time since 2022. The six-time singles champion and Alcaraz, a two-time men's champion, received a wild card into the tournament Saturday.

The qualifying event gives doubles specialists a chance to compete after the format was revamped last year to emphasize singles rankings. Most players in Monday's field are doubles specialists.

The first round and quarterfinals are scheduled for Tuesday, followed by the semifinals and final Wednesday. The winning team shares $1 million.
