Browns waive Dae'Quan Wright with LSU agreement in place
Cleveland is waiving the tight end, who has an agreement to play for LSU in 2026 if he clears waivers.

The Cleveland Browns are waiving tight end Dae'Quan Wright, who has an agreement in place to play for LSU in 2026 if he clears waivers, agents Drew Rosenhaus and Kyle Lincoln told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Sunday.
Wright signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent after the draft and was claimed by Cleveland on Aug. 11. He did not appear in either of the Browns' first two preseason games. Wright has not practiced in more than a week but dressed for Saturday's game against Buffalo. Browns coach Todd Monken said Wright has been sidelined because of an injury.

Wright entered the transfer portal Wednesday after athletes who filed a lawsuit in Louisiana received a temporary restraining order allowing them to return to college for one more season. His college eligibility ended last season, and he was not included in the NCAA's new five-year eligibility rule, which takes effect next season.
Wright played for Lane Kiffin, LSU's first-year coach, at Ole Miss in 2024 and 2025. The next decision point is whether Wright clears waivers, a condition of the agreement for the 2026 season.
